Any word for more than busy?
Is there any word which means more than busy? If there is, let's use that to describe my team's current situation. It seems 24 hours is not nearly enough but we stride on. Moving forward, pushing forward, tackling one task at a time, counting, one, two, three.... every task accomplished is a celebration in itself. One down! I shout in my mind. After scratching off a more than a handful on my list, a couple more are appended. Despite of it all, it still is truly a satisfying as it is more than challenging.
Long Weekend
Monday is almost upon us and the long weekend is coming to a close. Rain also came for an hour or two, just enough to cool things around. I'm looking forward to a full week of work and learning. We spent the later part of the day at the Expo and it sure had a lot in-store for us. First was the gamers event with a little tech show. The Blizzard section was huge and people got to play with the highly anticipated Starcraft 2.
Hot Days
It has been so hot the past couple of days that it feels like the world has become a global sauna. Airconditioning units are struggling to keep up to no avail, we had to turn it off and open the windows, but in a very humid country such as Singapore it sometimes is futile. We'll have to trudge along and try to cope up. One very popular sandwich store at the office yesterday closed shop, a sign was left for their avid customer, "Went off to escape the heat, will be back monday". I was cursing the cold weather in London last November, how I wish it was that cold now, around 10 degrees I think is just a good temperature. Last I hear, London was also nearing 30. Siberia might be a good place to scape and cool off ? Showers over the weekend is the forecast, I hope it brings lots of cool breeze and bring the temperature downwards. Is hoping for 14% hoping for too much?
BZ months
It has been a whirlwind of activities for the past couple of months but hopefully I'll be able to update more often from now on. A couple of projects which lead to major releases to the product I work for has kept the entire team a buzz with sometimes sleepless nights, honestly, I think my colleagues in the team probably have some secret potion on how to stay awake, keep sharp and go on working. That potion might be a local concoction in the UK but I'm sure to find a similar and with the same effecacy here in Singapore with so many traditional chinese medicines around.
Respected Tissue
The seemingly lowly and always taken for granted tissue is very much respected here in Singapore. For most of us, we do not even give it a thought, a tissue is a tissue and we often take it for granted, throw it around, wastefully use it, don't bother how it is doing and discard it at will. The only instances where people give it the higest importance is when you really have to go or when we are eating and there is no running water and it's not there in which we would scramble around to look for a roll or even a precious few, After which when we have already done our business we thank the inventors for inventing such.
Singapore Museums
With my second trip to Singapore this year, I was determined to make time and make sure I go to museums. On the list were the Singapore Art Museum, National Museum of Singapore and the Asian Civilizations Museum.
Back from Singapore
Back from a 5 day hiatus in Singapore, it was fun yet fun. I was there with two of my office colleagues and we stayed at Bullion Park in Yio Chu Kang. Last March I was at Jurong West, who knows where I will be next.
Sights and Sounds of Singapore
This is my second post about my trip to Singapore, see first post here. On our Third day in Singapura, We bundled 6 tourist destinations in 1 day, we had to make up for lost time since our first day was dampened by a whole day of rain. The itinerary was Merlion, Esplanade, Singapore Flyer, Suntec City(Fountain of Wealth), Sentosa Island, Bugis. Seems like a lot for 1 day but with a lot of determination and walking, it is manageable.
Singapore Zoo and Night Safari
Together with my family, we went to Singapore early March, partly to visit my wife's brother and secondly to soak up on what Singapore has to offer. My mom and dad went to Singapura(Lion City in Malay) in 2004 for a exhibit and they were all praises for the 710.2 km2(and growing) City State. It's Three and a half the size of Cebu City, my home town, but it's densely populated with a 4.8 million population, it can get crowded out there.
