Movie Review : Cry, the Beloved Country
![]()
This one I just stumbled upon while looking for good films about South Africa. The fact that James Earl Jones and Richard Harris are the leads drew me to this, as well as I had a thing about watching something African at that time.
It's not horribly showing what happened during apartheid but more towards the humanity, discovery and acceptance from both sides of the color divide.
Both actors were superb, played their role very very well and it made me connect more with the characters and the story each one had. having two story lines that interact at climax is not an easy task. The story should each be distinct yet should not veer to far away. This movie is a classic dramatic with excellent acting and a good story.
Good to watch if you are not in a hurry, locked out from distractions to concentrate on the movie.
