Food Sharing : Ramen from Homebaked Dough
Last week, I had a mental note to look for the ramen stall at Tanjong Pagar Plaza. I read from the net that it is good and cheap. After going around 2nd floor of the main food court and not finding the place, I was about to give up and look for something else. However, I decided to cross to the other building where Fairprice is and check if it is there.
Lucky me and I found them. I ordered the spicy ramen, it took about a minute or so to get it ready and since I came around 1 pm plus, there were a lot of tables free, lucky me again.
I took a look at the ramen, tried to absorb and smell the aroma, but it was a bit windy so I just admired it for a couple seconds. It looks really good and how the elements are positioned gave me a well prepared and close to authentic effort feeling which just added up on the anticipation and expectation.
After the admiration phase, now comes the eating phase. The soup base was very good, full of flavor and lived up to it being spicy. The noodles used was not the instant kind and so it was a big plus for me.
All in all, the experience was great and it being affordable, I would surely drop by the next time I have an urge for ramen.
Update(19-Aug-2011) - There was a new ramen on the menu the other day and I told myself I should try that the next, which I did yesterday, two straight days of ramen for me this week. The new dish was Corn Ramen, 50 cents more than the regular ramen which is $5.50.
It's a bit different and the dude at the stall told me it's good with a little vinegar on it, and so I did get some and occasionally placed some on the soup before slurping it, and it did go well, it added a bit of sour taste which I think amplifies the fullness of the soup.
As expected from it's name, there was a generous serving of corn which I think gave it a unique taste to the regular ramen, made it a bit thicker and it was not too strong despite the amount to overcome the rest of the ramen.
